• Asked them to pay money (Rs 15,000 to 20,000) for documents and entry.

• So far, 15-20 people have been fooled and lost their money. 

• The scam was caught when Sindhutai’s daughter Mamta Sapkal found out and filed a police complaint.

2. How the Cheating Was Done :

• The fraudsters made fake social media accounts and posted photos of girls.

• They said these girls were from Sindhutai’s ashram and ready for marriage.

• They asked people to send money online (PhonePe, Google Pay) for "entry fees."

• They gave fake addresses and once they got the money, they stopped answering calls.

• They lied about being part of Sindhutai’s trust.

3. How They Played with Emotions :

• They used people’s trust in Sindhutai Sapkal.

• They made it look like they were helping orphan girls, which made people emotional.

• They also targeted families desperate to find brides, making them act quickly and pay without checking.

4. What Was the Impact :

• 20+ People lost their hard-earned money.

• It hurt the name of Sindhutai Sapkal, who had worked all her life to help orphans.

• It showed that scams on social media are growing and can cheat anyone.

5. How to Stay Safe :

• Don’t believe marriage ads on social media - always check if the group is real.

• No trusted NGO or ashram asks for money for marriage.

• Always verify names, phone numbers, and addresses.

• Use official websites or government platforms for marriage.

• If something feels wrong, report it to the police or cybercrime portal.

• सोशल मीडियावरील घोटाळे वाढत आहेत आणि ते कोणालाही फसवू शकतात हे त्यातून दिसून आले.

५. सुरक्षित कसे राहायचे :

• सोशल मीडियावरील लग्नाच्या जाहिरातींवर विश्वास ठेवू नका - ग्रुप खरा आहे का ते नेहमी तपासा.

• कोणताही विश्वसनीय NGO किंवा आश्रम लग्नासाठी पैसे मागत नाही.

• नेमके नावे, फोन नंबर आणि पत्ते पडताळून पहा.

• लग्नासाठी अधिकृत वेबसाइट किंवा सरकारी प्लॅटफॉर्म वापरा.

• काही चुकीचे वाटत असल्यास, पोलिस किंवा सायबर क्राइम पोर्टलला तक्रार करा.
